a) Rate of increase over the previous corresponding period is calculated on the basis of comparable coverage. As the statistical coverage before 1992

was not comparable with that in 1993, the increase rate in 1993 was not calculated.

b) The People's Bank of China has made some adjustment about the monetary statistics system since the beginning of 1997, the statistics since 1997

are not fully comparable with historical statistics.
