a) Statistics on illiterate population covered the illiterate and
semi-illiterate people at 12 and above in 1964, and those at 15 and above in

semi-illiterate people in the population at 15 and above. |

This table has the same indicators but different figures from 3-2, because
this table uses the data at the time point of the census, while |
|
| 3-2
uses the year end as the time point. The time point of the census in 1953 was
12 o'clock midnight, July 1st; the time point in 1964 |
|
| was
12 o'clock midnight, July 1st; the time point in 1982 was 12 o'clock
midnight, July 1st; the time point in 1990 was 12 o'clock midnight. |
