| 镇的人口，“农村人口”是指各乡的人口。1996年因撤乡建镇，按统计制度规定，则全部统计为“城镇人口”。如果仍按往年的 |

| 统计口径只把原先的川沙、高桥、洋泾、北蔡4镇的人口仍统计为“城镇人口”，则1996年的城镇人口为91．72万人，占 |
|
| 60．7％，农村人口59．39万人，占39．3％。 |

| In Nov．1995，PNA rescined township
system，adopted town system．So the figures
describing the urban population in the table |

| stands for the population of
subdistricts and towns；the rural population means
the township population．In 1996,according to the |
|
| statistical regulations,the whol
population in PNA was regarded as
urbanpopulation．However，if we do it with the old statistical |
|
| way,the population in 4
towns—chuansha，Gaoqiao，Yangjing and beicai should
belong to urban population reached 917，200—60． |
