注释：表内列载有关幼稚园、小学、中一至中七及特殊教育的数字是截至该年9月为止。至于认可专上学院、其他专上学院、成
    人教育以及香港公开大学的数字，则是截至该年10月为止。工业学院及科技学院的数字是截至该年11月为止。教资会
    资助院校的数字则是截至该年12月止。
    ①志愿机构和私人团体为本港三至五岁的儿童提供幼稚园教育，幼稚园并非由政府主办，但须在教育署注册，由该署加
    以督导。现时大部分幼稚园为半日制，但提供全日制学位的幼稚园数目亦续渐增加。
    ②不包括商业学校，因该等学校已归人「成人教育」的类别。
    ③香港教育学院自1996年7月1日起成为大学教育资助委员会资助院校。
    ④技工级课程为中三以上程度课程，技术员级课程为中五以上程度课程。
    ⑤香港科技学院(柴湾及青衣)于1993年成立，主要开办高级文凭课程及高级证书课程。
    ⑥香港公开进修学院于1989年成立，并于1997年5月30日改名为香港公开大学。
    ⑦「成人教育」是指由官立夜校，官立中文夜学院及各间提供各类科目(包括商科班)的私立学校所开办的课程。
Notes： Figures for kindergarten，primary，secondary 1-7 and special education are as at September of the year．Figures for
    approved post-secondary colleges，other post-secondary colleges，schools offering adult education and the Open
    University of Hong Kong are as at October of the year．Figures for Technical Institutes and Technical Colleges are as
    at November of the year．Figures for UGC-funded institutionsare as at December of the year．
    ①Kindergarten education is provided by voluntary organisations and private bodies for children in the 3-5 age group．
    These kindergartens are registered with and supervised by the Education Department．Most kindergartens operate
    two half-day sessions，but the number offering whole-day places is increasing．
    ②Excluding commercial schools which have been classified under’Adult education insitutions．
    ③The Hong Kong Institute of Education came under the aegis of the University Grants Committee(UGC)with effect
    from 1 July 1996．
    ④Craft level course is post-secondary 3 course．Technician level course is post-secondary 5 course．
    ⑤The Hong Kong Technical Colleges(Chai Wan＆Tsing Yi)，which run Higher Diploma and Higher Certificate
    courses，started operation in 1993．
    ⑥The Open Learning Institute of Hong Kong was established in June 1989．It was renamed The Open University of
    Hong Kong on 30 May 1997．
    ⑦’Adult education institutions’refer to courses in Government evening institutes，the Evening School of Higher Chinese
    Studies and various private schools offering a variety of subjects including commercial classes．
